Bio:My philosophical struggle begins with the assertion that the universe is absurd. Once this assertion is made society is a paradox. Society is a rational construction in an irrational universe. There are no rational foundation for any social phenomenon except for the need for order to function and the resulting custom, which develops out of habitual use. My struggle is then to reconcile a rational existence in an irrational world which for me manifests as the struggle between solitude and solidarity. Solitude is the realm of the individual where individual expression thrives, but alienation and loneliness looms. Solidarity is the realm of community where there is communal affirmation of one's identity, but also where the threat of subjugation and marginalization in a slave-master social hierarchy exists. The struggle then is not only how to balance solidarity and solitude, but also how to manage the negative and positive aspects of solidarity and solitude. Applying that all more specifically when considering who I am, there are two aspects of my personality, which are important to note: I am an observer, and I tend to act out of spite. Most of my observations tend to be in the context of understanding the struggle between solitude and solidarity and the positive and negative aspects of each. In this context I observe my own actions (external and internal), as well as social actions (only external), which can be broken down into immediate social actions (individuals closest to me, ones I can observe immediately) and communal social actions (events that happen in a community as a whole). I am always surprised at how easy every action or event can be reduced to the struggle between solitude and solidarity and how each action or event expresses to some degree either positive or negative aspects of the struggle between solidarity and solitude. This struggle interests me the most on two levels: myself, and immediate social actions. I grew up antisocial and struggling with anxiety and depression, for this reason the struggle between solitude and solidarity has always been pronounced for me. What I find most interesting about other people though is that the struggle between solitude and solidarity can be so pronounced, however, so intangible to the person going through it because of their own dishonesty to themselves and to other people (this applies to me as well). As I mentioned before I act out of spite. It is enough to say I tend not to do things because everyone else is doing it, I tend to do things because no one else is doing it, and if everyone else is I take it to excess. The general rule is that out of spite I point out the absurdity of life. Of course even this last paragraph is written out of spite, so how can you trust it? There's more to me than just these words, and I choose to portray myself here inaccurately, also, I am very aware that there are many outside perspectives out there which inaccurately describe me . . . so who can you trust? ;)
